What is a swimming meet pack?

Before a gala, the organiser publishes a document that sets out everything about the competition. It goes by several names, meet pack, meet information, conditions or promoter's conditions, and it is the rulebook for that event.

Direct answer

A swimming meet pack is the official information document for a competition. It sets out the dates, venue, course, age rules, event list, entry times, fees, deadlines and conditions, and it is the source you should trust over any summary.

Why a meet pack exists

A meet pack gives every club and family the same official information. It removes guesswork about what events are offered, who can enter, and what the rules are on the day.

Because each meet sets its own format, the pack is specific to that competition. Two meets in the same month can have different age rules, entry times and session structures.

What it usually contains

Expect the basics first: dates, venue, pool length and the licence or level of the meet. Then the age rules, which often use age at 31 December for the competition year.

The pack lists every event with a number, plus any entry time limits or qualifying conditions. It also covers fees, the entry deadline, withdrawal rules, warm-up arrangements and awards.

How it differs from the result sheet

The meet pack comes before the meet and tells you what is planned. The result sheet comes after and tells you what happened. They are different documents for different moments.

Reading the pack well, and finding the right details quickly, is a separate skill from reading a result sheet, and both are worth learning if a swimmer competes regularly.

Treat it as the official source

Always check the latest version of the pack and any updates from the organiser. Conditions can change between the first publication and the meet itself.

PB Pathway does not import or replace official meet information, and it should never be read as an official entry system. It helps you track the times that decide whether an event is worth entering, while the pack remains the source for the rules.
